Fancy Fence has been selected as the access control solution for a cruise terminal project in France. This is a particularly important project for us - not only because of its demanding architectural context and exceptionally high corrosion protection requirements, but also because of the nature of the public space, where the system is intended to operate only when it is truly needed.

Access Control Without a Permanent Barrier

The project concerns a port terminal where access to selected areas must be controlled outside peak operating hours, primarily at night. During the day, when passengers and users move freely through the terminal, the solution must not disrupt the functioning of the space or interfere with the perception of the architecture.

A System Hidden Beneath the Stairs

For the portals at the western staircases, a system hidden within the structural void beneath the stairs is planned. The portals are 3.00 m high, designed as motorized solutions, and their expected operating mode assumes opening and closing approximately 1–2 times per day. These parameters match the function of the facility: the system secures access when required, while remaining invisible when open and not limiting the daily flow of terminal users.

A Gate Adapted to the Geometry of the Terminal

An important element of the project is also the adaptation of the gate geometry to the architectural layout of the terminal. The design includes a folded, angled configuration adapted to the course of the stairs and the structural void. This allows the system to be integrated into the building without the need for visible, permanent barriers in the public space.

Functionality, Discretion and Customization

The Fancy Fence solution responds to one of the typical needs of public spaces: enabling access control only when it is required, without creating a permanent visual barrier during the day. This combination of functionality, discretion and customization makes the system a frequent consideration in projects where architecture and freedom of movement are just as important as safety.

An additional advantage of the system is the wide range of customization options for the final effect - from geometry and dimensions to the type of finish. As a result, the solution can be adapted to the character of the building and the architectural assumptions of the project.

The First Public Project of Fancy Fence France

The project is also of particular organizational significance: it is the first public project of the newly established company Fancy Fence France. It marks an important step in the development of Fancy Fence’s presence on the French market and is an example of the application of this technology in a demanding, intensively used public space.

Security in Harmony with Architecture

The cruise terminal project shows that access control can be designed in a discreet, flexible and architecturally integrated way - providing security when it is needed, while remaining neutral for users when the space is intended to stay open.
